Appreciation

On behalf of Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service, I would like to express

our heartfelt appreciation to you for your extraordinary support following the tragic

incident at Bicester Motion on 15th May 2025, which claimed the lives of our firefighters

Jennie Logan, Martyn Sadler, and member of the public, Dave Chester.

This devastating event has left a profound mark not only on the families and colleagues

of those we lost, but also on the wider community across Oxfordshire and the fire service

family nationally. The shock and sorrow have been deeply felt, and the sense of loss is

immeasurable. We will never forget Jennie, Martyn and Dave and, we will carry them in

our hearts every single day.

We are deeply grateful for the support you provided in securing and coordinating

minibuses and coaches for the funerals of Jennie and Martyn. The transport

arrangements

from early morning coach arrivals at Symmetry Park and Bicester Park & Ride to the return transfers after the processions—were handled with care and precision,

allowing attendees to arrive and depart with ease and dignity. This thoughtful provision

helped ensure that the ceremonial events were accessible, respectful, and smoothly

managed, reflecting the compassion and professionalism of everyone involved.

I am aware that there were many drivers involved, and I would respectfully ask for this

message of appreciation to be shared with them

We have been truly overwhelmed by the love, support and care shown to us as we

navigate this difficult time and, it is at moments such as this, we see human kindness at

it’s very best.

Please accept our sincere appreciation for all that you have done and continue to do.

Your dedication and humanity have made a lasting difference during one of the most

difficult times our service has every faced.

With deepest gratitude,

Rob MacDougall
