Lottie, a chocolate sable show cocker spaniel, was born in April 2020 right at the start of the UKs Covid pandemic. She was named Dottie and was adopted by a young family with small children.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, she was relinquished to Spaniel Aid, a UK rehoming charity specialising in everything Spaniel, in July 2021. She was placed in a couple of foster families for assessment before being advertised and adopted by Shirley & Brian Gray in September 2021. We renamed her Lottie, which was primarily because it sounded very similar to her original name.
Like any new arrival, it took time for Lottie and us to establish a relationship. Not knowing very much about her previous home, data protection and all that, we encounter a few challenges with her, particularly guarding. Mainly her food, my handbags and shopping bags. We also experienced a trying day when she guarded a reindeers skin for a marathon 9 hours. Pleased to say that over time the guarding is not now the problem it once was.
Lottie is very much her own person. She calls the shots in terms of the relationships she has. Adores little people (children) Loves a cuddle but again only when it suits her. She is food led, reasonably obedient unless she has sight of wildlife, then true to her breed, shes off! She is a real Jekel & Hyde, her mood changing at a click of your fingers. It is therefore wise to treat her with a healthy respect. Having said that, she does bring a huge amount of pleasure to our lives. Pulls some funny faces, odd quirks etc.
